With a strong background in business and accounting — including a degree in Accounting, NZ diploma in Business and professional Xero certifications — Liz brings both technical know-how and real-world understanding to everything she does. She’s trained business owners, bookkeepers, and accounting students at AUT, and has helped hundreds of small business owners across New Zealand set up, understand, and manage their financial systems.

But what really sets her apart is how she works.

Liz understands that for many people, the financial side of running a business feels daunting — it’s often the first thing that gets left behind and the hardest thing to let go of. That’s why SmartDesk was built around trust, clarity, and personal connection. Kathryn knows what it’s like to run a business — to juggle deadlines, cash flow, customers, and a hundred moving parts at once. Before joining SmartDesk, she was in a business partnership and managed the business accounts and payroll, so she understands firsthand how important it is to have reliable, accurate financial support.

That experience shaped the way she works today. Kathryn brings empathy, efficiency, and real-world perspective to every client relationship. She knows that bookkeeping isn’t just about numbers — it’s about helping business owners feel organised, in control, and confident about where they’re heading.

With a solid background in bookkeeping and business operations, Kathryn takes pride in helping clients simplify their systems, stay compliant, and free up time for what matters most — running their business.

Jade Brownlee

Keeping it in the family
Jade is Liz’s daughter and has joined SmartDesk to help with some of the behind-the-scenes work, giving Liz more time to focus on her clients.

Having previously worked in logistics before starting her family, Jade brings a keen eye for detail and organisation to client support. She is also beginning to explore ways to share the SmartDesk story through social media and local community channels.
